Website testing
There are all sorts of website that will run SEO, accessibility and other tests on your website. But none of them actual report back what people really think about your site.
One service I’ve been using for a while is the fivescondtest from usabilityhub.
There are two ways to get the tests:
Pay for them. Prices are from $20/month which is a pretty good deal considering the range of products you get.
Earn Karma Points. The tests are free but you have to do tests to build up enough points to pay for yours.
Once registered there are three tests you can do:
The Five Second Test – Testers get five seconds (duh) to look at a page on your site then answer the questions you set.
Click test – To find out where people click on your site.
Nav Test – To find out how people navigate round your site.
You may be surprised at the results, I know I was. And after you have sulked for a while you can do some tweaking to improve your site.
